How safe is it to shoot at Insights Air Range?

Very! Safety is our prime concern, and we always ensure all shooters are well aware of our safe shooting policy. We abide by the Home Office Air Weapons Brief Guide to Safety, which is displayed at the range and can be accessed by clicking on the link below:

Is there a minimum age to shoot at the range?

Under 18’s must be supervised by a responsible adult over the age of 21 at all times.

Whilst there is strictly no minimum age for youngsters to shoot whilst supervised by a responsible adult (over the age of 21), please note that, due to conditions applicable to our Public Liability Insurance, all children must be 8 years or older to shoot at the range (riffle shooting).

However, please note that the minimum age for pistol shooting is 14 years old.

How many shooting lanes are there, and how long are they?

We have 12 shooting lanes, all 10 metres long, each equipped with their own dedicated target retrieval system.

Do I need to book shooting lanes?

Not always, but we strongly recommend a quick phone call prior to visits to avoid disappointment, particularly at weekends and Bank Holidays, and during school holidays.

Update: booking is required throughout the lockdown.

Are memberships available?

Yes, upon request. Enquire directly at the range for further details and membership discounts.

Do I have to be a member to shoot?

Of course not! Visitors are always welcome.

Can I use my own rifle at the range?

Absolutely! Please note that all new air rifles will be chronoed on first use to ensure they are below the 12 ft lbs legal limit. Both PCP and spring powered air rifles are allowed, but please be aware that the minimum age for shooting springers at the range is 14 years old, and is subject to on-going monitoring for young people.

Can I hire an air rifle?

Yes, our Walther Rotex RM8s are excellent PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) air rifles which can be hired when booking lanes. Prices including rifle hire are available on our Home page.

Can I shoot air pistols?

Yes! Pellet and BB pistols are allowed for shooters aged 14 years or older. Please note that only Air Venturi Dust Devil Frangible BBs are allowed at the range for safety reasons. Plastic, steel and lead BBs are strictly forbidden.

Can I buy target cards and CO2 cartridges at the range?

Yes, we have a wide selection of target cards and we sell Umarex 12g CO2 capsules.

Can I have my PCP air rifle re-filled at the range?

Yes, re-fill facilities are available at the range for a small fee.

Can I have my dive cylinder re-filled at the range?

Yes, dive cylinders up to 300 bars (maximum capacity 12 litres) can be re-filled at the range.

Can I hire the range for corporate events and private parties?

Absolutely! Please contact the range for all details.

Can I buy gift vouchers?


Can I pay by card or cheque?

We accept payments by bank transfer only.

Are refreshments available at the range?

Yes. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and sweets are available for purchase.

Are spectators allowed?

For safety reasons, spectators are not allowed in the shooting area, but are welcome to wait in reception.

Are there toilet facilities on-site?

Yes, and they have been fully refurbished in order to facilitate disabled access and comply with Part M regulations.

Is there disabled access?

Yes, we have made significant adjustments to the premises in order to provide disabled access to both the reception and shooting areas. Please contact the range for further details.

Is car parking available?

Yes, ample parking is available either right outside the range or in dedicated parking bays on the industrial estate.
